UPCOMING EVENTS

Next meeting, Thursday June 4th, 6:30pm

THIS MONTH'S TURNING CHALLENGE should be lots of fun.  You should turn a natural edge hollow form similar to the one we watched Al Hockenberry do at our May Meeting Demo.

JUNE DEMO:  Chainsawing 101
We're going to have an outdoor demo this month, weather permitting.  It will cover chainsaw safety, log orientation, grain recognition, and cutting.  Then we'll move indoors and "true-up" the blanks we just made.  We will also discuss ways to keep the wood from checking or splitting during storage.
Please bring your own safety glasses to the meeting for this demo.

The Florida West Coast Woodturners Club (FWCWT) is a local chapter of the American Association of Woodturners. Established exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, The FWCWT provides a meeting place for local turners to share ideas and techniques, and to educate the general public regarding the art of turning.

The Club meets at 6:30pm on the first Thursday of each month at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Largo - 1520 Rosary Road, Largo, Florida (Across the street from the Church) Shop & Meeting house is on NE corner of Highland & Rosary  - Rosery Rd. 2nd Driveway East of Highland on the North Side.  (see map for location and directions).  Our facilities include a complete workshop and demonstration area with several lathes, and separate meeting area for club business.

Monthly meetings include a member gallery ("Show and Tell"), 50/50 and "Bring back" raffles, and a turning demonstration by local and internationally known turners. There is often a wood raffle or auction as well.

We are always glad to welcome new members, regardless of "experience".
Guests from other AAW chapters, who are visiting the Tampa Bay area, are also welcome to attend our monthly meetings.

Mentoring and coaching is available to turners of all skill levels, including those just starting out.

The FWCWT offers an extensive library of videos and print publications to our members.

The Club and its members also provide turning demonstrations and exhibits at art festivals and craft fairs throughout the Tampa Bay area.
